Today was a whole new experience for me! Went to Little India to actually explore the place.
Haha, all my life I've never really gone around Little India to look-see, look-see.
So today I decided to follow Angel, Mel, Jeremy and Stella to Tekka Market to look for
Punjabi suits. Nothing else to do.
Yeah, the girls had so many designs and variety to choose from. Almost the entire 2nd level was selling female wear.
The guys...well, you could hardly find any shops selling suits for guys. In fact, we only managed
to find a couple of shops with very limited variety. BUT, Jeremy managed to find 2 suits that
he liked. Only $25 for the 2 suits he got!
I thought...why not get a suit for myself too since I was already there.. So, I bought this black suit for $15. Not too bad, cos I've never bought an exotic piece of clothing before. So, this is the first time I'm doing so. And it looks good, really.

My suit!! only $15...

The girls managed to find a suit each, and the suits they picked really looked good too! Oh, they got themselves bangles to go with their suits too.
Oh, we had our lunch at this Indian Restaurant, and we really had a Masala feast! Chicken Masala, Mutton Curry, Tikka Masala and different kinds of Naan. Yuumm.!!

Us, waiting to eat our lunch... *stomach growling*

The food!!! Looks good, doesn't it???

All in all, I thought I would have been bored to death going around window-shopping cos I HATE window-shopping for clothes etc. But today has been an interesting and fun-filled one.
Must do this more often.!!!

Woah!!
I just watched Francis the musical....And I think it was very well done!
Apart from minor flaws here and there (mostly technical in terms of sound), I'd say that this
is a very good performance.
The acting was mostly very natural, and the costumes (though simple) were very nicely done
and costume changes were super-fast too! Oh, and I think the dances were very well-choreographed too!
Even though I'm from Arts and was very persuaded to watch and support the main
casts of Julian, Charlene and Shane; I couldn't make it for the Saturday performance, so
instead I watched tonight's performance by Iggy, Michelle and Desmond.
Oh, the above pple played these roles respectively: Francis, Clare and Delio.
But I believe that no matter which of the casts I watched, they would have been just as good!
I learnt from tonight that:
We all only need one thing in our lives, and that is God. Anything else is just superficial.

Congratulations and Well Done to the Cast & Crew of Francis!
You guys definitely captured the audience's hearts, as you did me!
And thank you Lord, for gracing this event and blessing these your humble servants, who have toiled and worked so hard for You and only You alone!

Well, pretty normal Friday.

Ooh, I got the 3 nails ready(made from SAF Arc of Fire sticks)!
And I just found out that my dad has a wooden mallet at home!
So, here are the 3 nails and the wooden mallet, for tomorrow's event.

I made the 2nd Pentecost jigsaw puzzle for Youth Exhibition... haha, really
think it's damn cheem to fix....but only 24 pieces each.

And I just made the 2nd stencil for our Youth Ex cups. Hopefully, if all goes well, we
should be able to make 200 cups with just 4 persons doing the work in 1 day.

Went to church to FINALLY get a priest's signature on our event proposal...
Yeap, got Fr Peter Koh's autograph..haha. So, our event should be a GO AHEAD!
I just realised a lot of what Fr Pete saw wasn't really finalised..oops. Nevermind, I'll pray
about it, and hopefully it'll be alrite.

Tomorrow is the day!
Righteous in Christ: A Night of Reflection & Taize

Ohh, Edward brought his dog to church just now! Haha, the dog is damn cute siah!
He's called Tails, and he's really damn adorable!
He's a cross between a sausage dog and a chihuahua... Haha.

I cycled for the 2nd time in my life yesterday!!
Wow..didn't know that I could balance properly after such a
long hiatus from cycling.
The last time I remember cycling (and that was my first time) was
back in year 2000..my JC days! That's 4 years back...

Anyway, I was supposed to meet Jeremy, TM and Elvin at Bishan Park in the morning,
and I thought all I had to do was cycle about in Bishan Park and learn to paddle properly, control my turns etc..
Well, after renting the $5/hr bike from the kiosk, I started my journey out of the safe haven of the park to church..(apparently TM & Elvin were there)
Practiced a few rounds in the church carpark..cool bicycle circuit!
Then we were off to Casuarina for Prata!

Nuts!!!! I was a beginner and I was really freaked out at the thought of riding a rental bike across the road and onto the pavement.
"Oh, what happened to the good old days when you took your own sweet time
to learn a skill?"

But the 3 of them showed me the steps...and before long, i was flying about!
No..not literally flying from being flung off the bike! But moving very smoothly
and rather confidently too. Yeah, was really proud to have made it all the way from
Bishan Park 1 to Casuarina!
A few obstacles impeded my journey though, and they include:

  1. A number of hungry and ferocious looking green dustbins!
  2. Zombified humans waiting haphazardly at the bus-stops!
  3. The narrow and treacherous maze of steel rods!
  4. Concrete Knights by the pavements!

However, 1 Mushroom Prata and 1 Onion Prata awaited me... *yumm!!*

Haha, it was a great experience! I wanna buy a bike now!

Haha...I never thought I'd ever watch movies like Mean Girls on the big screen!!!
But guess what? Yeah..I watched it just this evening.
And I'd actually give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Not too bad for such movies.
I initially thought it would be like one of those brainless bimbo movies in the market nowadays...movies like Clueless, Princess Diaries, Legally Blonde etc...
Well, Mean Girls is certainly still about Bimbos, actually it's entirely about a buncha
bimbos! Haha...But it's really funny, and not too bad a storyline.

"Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock..."

And Lindsay Lohan..Boy has she changed! The last time I saw her onscreen was as this
buncha twin girls (CGI produced) in the movie The Parent Trap. And she was just a little girl then! I didn't realise that it was so long ago already.

Haha..Today I gave myself a treat after such a long time!
Haven't been buying action figures since before my Holidays...that was like
before my Exams in April...Pretty Long time.
Well, today I bought Uma Thurman's The Bride Action Figure from the movie Kill Bill. And I also bought GoGo, the Japanese Psycho Girl with the swinging chain and spiked ball.
Only $36 for both figures. Not too bad, considering I actually got an offer at another shop for $60!!! That was really DAY LIGHT ROBBERY!

GoGo! Psycho!

The Bride!

TRUST
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, probably of Scandinavian origin; akin to Old Norse traust trust; akin to Old English trEowe faithful -- more at TRUE
1 a : assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something b : one in which confidence is placed
2 a : dependence on something future or contingent : HOPE b : reliance on future payment for property (as merchandise) delivered : CREDIT
4 archaic : TRUSTWORTHINESS
5 a (1) : a charge or duty imposed in faith or confidence or as a condition of some relationship (2) : something committed or entrusted to one to be used or cared for in the interest of another b : responsible charge or office c : CARE, CUSTODY (the child committed to her trust)
- in trust : in the care or possession of a trustee
(According to Merriam-Webster Online)

I find it so hard to trust people. Maybe it's just my lack of self-confidence or too much self-consciousness. I don't know why it is such a difficult thing to trust. Even my closest friends and the people I love the most...I'm always hurting them because of this darn noun above.
Arguments and petty disagreements...together with another darn noun: PRIDE.

PRIDE
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English pryde, from prud proud -- more at PROUD
1 : the quality or state of being proud: as a : inordinate self-esteem : CONCEIT b : a reasonable or justifiable self-respect c : delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship (parental pride)
2 : proud or disdainful behavior or treatment : DISDAIN
3 a : ostentatious display b : highest pitch : PRIME

I don't even know why pride is such a hidden arrow. Sometimes it lurks in the shadows, concealed by grace and kindness. Then just as things seem to go smooth, a minor obstacle comes along and PRIDE shows its darkest side...shoots you right in the back. Pride will destroy even the strongest of friendships and brotherhoods forged.

But then, I learnt another noun:
HUMILITY
Etymology: Middle English, from Old French, from Latin humilis low, humble, from humus earth; akin to Greek chthOn earth, chamai on the ground
1 : not proud or haughty : not arrogant or assertive
2 : reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission (a humble apology)
3 a : ranking low in a hierarchy or scale : INSIGNIFICANT, UNPRETENTIOUS b : not costly or luxurious (a humble contraption)

And this I learnt not from any textbook or inspirational guru-magic book.
No, I learnt this from the one book that will secure our lives on this earth and beyond death. I learnt this from the Bible, through the words of Jesus Christ my Lord.

"Many who are first will be last, and the last, first." -Matthew 19:30
"If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself last of all and servant of all." -Mark 9:35
"You call me Master and Lord, and rightly; so I am. If I, then, the Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you must wash each other's feet. I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to you." -John 13:14-15

And I realise that humility is the one drawing factor in relationships. And there can be no love if there is no humility. Because:
"...love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage... It is always ready to make allowances, to TRUST, to HOPE and to endure whatever comes." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Been a long day..!
But, Mission Codename: Scorpion accomplished!
Yup, Sharon's 19th Birthday Celebration at Mel's house today.
All thanks to our mission planner Grace, and her hard work at coordinating
and planning the entire mission.
Haha, i just went there to eat...hehee (I brought otar okay!)
Had quite a ball of a time there!
Oh yah...spent almost 2 hrs in total trying to piece Sharon's jigsaw
present together, with Mel's help. And it's only 300 pieces big!
Hamtaro lah...so difficult to piece together...

Well, life's been pretty busy for me lately, and it's gonna be again this
coming week and weeks to come...
Youth Mass 1st event and Youth Exhibition.

But recently also managed to finish my Vietnam book, after so long!
And also finished reading Tuesdays With Morrie.
It is such a powerful book, and very meaningful. Really puts me to think
about what life really means to me. And how so many times we just live our lives
without ever thinking about anything else. Especially the people who we love and are
so dear to us.
It's many a times, we take these people for granted: Our parents, our siblings, our children, our friends, our spouses, our teachers, our colleagues etc.
What is this life to me? What do I hope to achieve before I die?
Will I still hold grudges or have regrets before I die?

For one; those of you who do read my blog, thanks for caring.
It makes a difference when I know someone cares.

And to those whom I hold dearly to my heart, thanks for the love and the
understanding that you pour on me frequently. May God shower you with uncountable
blessings! Oh, And I love you too. :)

Thought of the day
What is a job? A job is a service that you give in return for monetary payment to secure your daily sustenance. BUT A job should be more than money.
A job may pay well and you may be able to own everything that money can buy.
But if a job becomes a routine and a rite, and does not bring fulfilment or meaning in life, better to quit and find a lesser paying job than be stuck in limbo the rest of what you call a life.
Get a LIFE!
